This means that the school is closed to all children until further notice, apart from those who have been identified as 'vulnerable' according to government criteria. Arrangements will be made for these children to be looked after (during school hours) throughout the period of closure.

During this time, we are committed to ensuring our children at St Nicholas First School are able to access broad and balanced home learning provision, that will consolidate and support their learning in school.

Please see important information regarding reporting safeguarding concerns below.

Welcome to St Nicholas' Church of England First School. This website will give you an insight into school life at St Nics, helping you learn a little about school organisation and events, as well as teaching and learning and latest news.

St Nicholas is a Church of England First School which belongs to the Diocese of Lichfield. This reflects a partnership between the Church and the State in providing education for all within a distinctly Christian context.

Although maintained financially as an Academy by the EFA, the school is still a Christian School, in which Christian worship, teaching about the Christian faith and a community life within a Christian atmosphere is cultivated.

Our School Vision is: "to provide an innovative and stimulating environment offering a wealth of experiences to inspire all in our school community. Together we will find and believe in our skills and abilities and develop a love of learning within a nurturing, caring Christian faith."

We believe that a child's school life should be supported by teachers and parents working together. We know that children learn best when they feel valued and supported and understand the boundaries set on their behaviour. All of our children are valued as children of God and as such we work as one big family.   Children at St Nicholas are well motivated to learn and are supported by praise and rewards to encourage them to strive for success.

As a church school we work in close partnership with St Nicholas Church and celebrate our Christian values of Trust, Care, Respect, Challenge (Perseverance) and Thankfulness.   Children, staff and governors are recognised for their commitment to developing as a Christian community and for their Spiritual journey.  We are a school that seeks at every level, staff, parent and child to serve and act with humility to live out God's will.   We hope that all who visit us in school experience the high levels of Christian care, balanced with academic expectation that makes St Nics such a happy school.

As a school we are committed to ensuring all of our children make very good progress in knowledge and skills across the curriculum, but particularly reaching the highest standards in Mathematics and English. Adults work in partnership to prepare children for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life.

Please do come and visit us to find out more, we will be pleased to welcome you to our school and church family.
