St Nicholas First School was the first school in Staffordshire to set up a Walking Bus. The scheme is supported by Staffordshire County Council's TravelWise Road Safety Unit who train parent volunteers to become 'Walking Bus Escorts'.
We have the following route as below:
Chapel Lane/Oaken Lanes Route Meeting Point: Daydreams Departing from the junction of Chapel Lane/Oaken Lanes at 8.30 a.m., the Walking Bus makes its way along Station Road, past Fairfield Drive and Codsall shops. The School Crossing Patrol escorts the Walking Bus across Wolverhampton Road and the route continues onto Walton Gardens, arriving at school by 8.50 a.m.
The advantages of the Walking Bus are:-
It is community spirited - parents escorting children on a rota basis
Reduced traffic congestion around school
Children enjoy walking to school with their friends
Parents wishing their children to join this scheme or volunteer to become escorts, should collect a form from the school office.
